NEWPORT NEWS — Police have identified a woman who was found dead on a sidewalk early Wednesday morning and a man has been charged in the killing.

Just before 3:15 a.m., 55-year-old Denna Marshay Williams, of Norfolk, was found dead on a sidewalk in the 4500 block of Jefferson Avenue near the intersection of Jefferson and 45th Street, according to police.

Andra Leman Austin, a 63-year-old Newport News man, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, police said.

No other information was released.
