LAS VEGAS — Michigan was so dominant during the Players Era Championship this week that its fans who attended any or all of the three games let their minds drift to football and the last player on the bench, sometimes as early as the first half.

“Beat Ohio!” and “We want Charlie!” chants were heard all three nights. Michigan beat high-level college basketball programs by margins of 40, 30 and 40 points. Why not start thinking about Saturday’s football game against the Buckeyes or calling for walk-on Charlie May to get some playing time?

The Wolverines beat Gonzaga on Wednesday night 101-61 to win the Players Era Championship. It’s hard to imagine a college basketball team has ever had a better Thanksgiving week than Michigan in 2025 . The Wolverines had much to be thankful for.
