Jack Westlake, a 21-year-old man, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a series of rapes and sexual assaults against four underaged girls. The sentencing took place at Plymouth Crown Court, where Westlake was found guilty of eight charges related to these heinous acts. The court heard distressing details about the impact of Westlake's actions on his victims. One girl became pregnant as a result of his assault and subsequently underwent an abortion. Westlake's offences included the rape of a girl under 16 on August 26, 2021, and a sexual assault by penetration on the same day. He was also found guilty of raping another girl under 16 on August 26, 2022. In addition, he faced two counts of assault by penetration against another girl under 16 on January 26, 2021, in a Plymouth park. Furthermore, he was charged with four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with yet another girl under 16, with incidents occurring between August and November 2021. During the sentencing hearing on November 28, Judge Matthew Turner expressed the long-lasting emotional impact of Westlake's crimes on his victims, stating they would be affected "for years to come." The judge noted that Westlake had breached a two-year Sexual Risk Order imposed by the Magistrates' court in November 2023, which prohibited him from contacting any female under 16 and required him to inform his supervisor of any new mobile phone. In addition to his prison sentence, Westlake will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and is required to pay a victim surcharge of £190.
