MARENGO TWP, Mich. (WILX) -A Detroit-bound Amtrak train carrying 107 passengers lost engine power Thursday evening near Marshall, stranding travelers during severe winter weather conditions.

In a post on Facebook , the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies responded to the disabled train report at approximately 8:42 p.m. in Marengo Township.

Deputies and partner agencies worked for several hours under challenging circumstances to evacuate passengers from the train cars. Marshall Public Schools Transportation buses helped transport passengers to the Amtrak station in downtown Battle Creek.

The remaining passengers were transferred to a second Amtrak train that arrived at the scene. All passengers were safely relocated with no injuries reported.
