Thanks to the triple lock, older state pensioners across the UK will receive up to £9,614 in annual pension payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Chancellor Rachel Reeves unveiled the government's tax, spending and borrowing plans for the forthcoming year in the autumn Budget on Wednesday, November 26.

As part of the Budget announcement , it was confirmed that the State Pension will rise by 4.8% from April next year, in line with the triple lock. The new rates are determined by whichever is the highest out of three factors known as the 'triple lock'.
