A Florida man who reported his girlfriend missing has now been charged with murder after investigators found her body in a canal.

Saul Garcia-Gonzalez, 40, is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 37-year-old Nerida Martel, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a press release on Nov. 27.

Martel's body was found floating in a canal near SW 168 Street and SW 205 Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 11, just days after investigators claim
