New Mexico State Police reported on Nov. 27 that it was assisting in locating a missing aircraft in southern New Mexico.

Hours later, the plane was found downed. Here's what we know.

Plane was near Alamogordo White Sands Regional Airport

New Mexico State Police said the plane was scheduled to arrive at back at its "airport of origin" an hour after takeoff, which was noted at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 26.

Law enforcement didn't clarify the airport of origin, stating only that the plane was last known to be near the Alamogordo White Sands Regional Airport in Otero County. The airport is a small, regional airport in Alamogordo which contains two runways.
