A family-run chippy in Thornaby marked its second anniversary with its busiest day on record.

Marina Munch, based on Thorntree Road, saw customers queueing from opening to close as they took advantage of a special 50 per cent off offer.

The family-run business has built a loyal following in the community and drew visitors from surrounding towns.

Sukjant Deol, owner of Marina Munch, said: "The support we saw yesterday was something truly special.

"We have never been so busy and the atmosphere from the moment we opened the doors reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
