BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Mike Cazes, a longtime former sheriff for West Baton Rouge Parish, has died.

Cazes served over four decades in public service, 20 of those as the West Baton Rouge Sheriff. He retired last year after his long tenure. WAFB was told he passed away this morning after suffering a medical emergency at his home.

According to his obituary , his funeral services are on Friday, Nov. 28. A visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
