CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Edwards, Jefferson, Wabash, and Wayne counties in Illinois. This also extends north of our area in Illinois. The advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday to midnight Saturday night.

Snow accumulations could reach up to two inches, impacting travel with slippery road conditions. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois State Police have warned of potential travel disruptions, especially as many return home from the Thanksgiving holiday.

“While we are prepared and ready to devote all of our resources to the latest winter weather event, this weekend’s storm will hit when millions of people are returning home from the holiday,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Gia Biagi.
