The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 2 p.m. on Friday for lake effect snow until 3 p.m. for Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady and Albany counties.
"At 1:59 p.m., a lake effect snow band was near St. Johnsville, or near Little Falls moving east at 30 MPH," says the weather service.
This includes the following highways: Interstate 88 between exits 23 and 25. Interstate 90 between exits 5A and 30. Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9. Interstate 87 between exits 23 and 7, and between exits 8A and 15. Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 4.
Expect lake effect snow in the following locations:
St. Johnsville around 2:05 p.m.
Fort Plain around 2:10 p.m.
Ephratah around 2:15 p.m.
Johnstown around 2:25 p.m.
Fonda around 2:30 p.m.
