Muscovites put on their skates and took to the ice as a large ice rink reopened in the Russian capital for the winter season.
The 20,000 square meter rink returned to the Soviet-era VDNKh expo park on Friday with many enjoying a nice glide on the ice despite unusually warm weather in Moscow.
"It's warm, and the ice, look, is holding up really well," said Sergey Naumenko, a first time visitor to the rink.
For many visitors, the opening is a sure sign that the holiday season is on its way.
"It seems to be bringing the New Year's spirit," said Moscow resident, Anastasia Vardasova.
The giant ice rink can accommodate more than 5,000 people, according to organizers.
