Sir Chris Hoy has admitted that he is "disappointed and saddened" as the UK National Screening Committee has not recommended population screening for prostate cancer . However, the Olympian is determined to still use his platform to "campaign for change".
Chris Hoy was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023, and was sadly told by doctors last year that the cancer had spread to his bones. The 49-year-old revealed that he has been given between two to four years to live as he battles the disease.
Since his diagnosis, the six-time Olympic gold medallist has rallied for improved screening of the illness so the disease can be detected sooner. However, his campaign has been pushed back today by the UK National Screening Committee.
