Additional overnight closures of the Tyne Bridge are planned next week to allow for construction on the scaffolded walkway (Image: Newcastle Chronicle)
As restoration work on the Tyne Bridge continues, a series of additional overnight closures are set to take place next week as a result of poor weather hitting the North East.
As heavy rain is expected to cause further travel disruption this weekend and snow warnings in place across parts of the region, weekday overnight closures are necessary for the installation of new scaffolding.
Additional closures of the Tyne Bridge have been announced by Newcastle City Council from Monday, December 1, to ensure teams can complete the scaffolded walkway on the east footway - a vital step before major repairs and repainting begin next year.
