The Christmas season is in full swing at Community Care of West Niagara , with all the spots in the Beamsville food bank’s Christmas hamper program filled.
“It’s been extremely busy,” said client services co-ordinator Dora Liptay. “We are jingling with joy and stress.”
For more than 20 years, the non-profit agency has been giving Christmas hampers to low-income families in Lincoln.
The hampers or boxes contain food (including all the items for a traditional Christmas dinner), personal care and household products along with toys for children.
“We offer a choice of turkey, ham or chicken,” Liptay said.
This year registration for the hampers began right after Thanksgiving and less than a month later the program was filled with 125 families, five more than last year.
