LEHIGHTON – The Lansdale Catholic football team fought Southern Columbia to a 7-7 stalemate in the first half in Friday night’s PIAA Class 2A semifinal.

But in less than two minutes of game time in the third quarter, the contest slipped away from the Crusaders.

Pinned to its own 2-yard line after the second half’s opening kickoff, an errant second-down snap resulted in a safety to put the District 4 champ Tigers up 9-7 just 1 minute and 9 seconds after the break.

Lansdale Catholic recovered the ball on the ensuing kickoff but another bad snap led to Southern Columbia recovering a fumble near the goal line and punching it the following play to have a 16-7 advantage at 10:03.
