SHIVELY, Ky. —

The Good Neighbor Awards brought the Shively community together Saturday to celebrate people who work to make their corner of the world better.

WLKY’s Alexis Mathews served as the emcee of the second annual event, honoring neighbors who don't just talk about caring, they live it, too.

These are people who show up for their families, their block, and their communities, always willing to lend a lending hand.

Councilwoman Shameka Parrish-Wright said, "My life was saved by neighbors who cared, who didn't just look at me as just some young girl who saw me and said something to her when her she said distress, and they got help for me, and that's what every neighbor should be able to have."
