NORMAN, Okla. — LSU’s defense played well for so long Saturday night, but it made a critical mistake late in the fourth quarter as it tried to upset No. 8 Oklahoma.

Oklahoma wide receiver Isaiah Sategna slipped past the defense to get wide open for a 58-yard touchdown pass, and LSU could not come back in a 17-13 loss in the regular season finale.

Oklahoma (10-2, 6-2 SEC) likely secured a spot in the College Football Playoff, while LSU (7-5, 3-5) will wait to find out its bowl destination.

LSU held a 13-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter before it gave up the touchdown to Sategna. LSU drove into Oklahoma territory on the ensuing possession, but sophomore quarterback Michael Van Buren’s pass was knocked away on fourth down.
