WHITEWATER, Wis. — UW-Whitewater's football season came to an end Saturday with a heartbreaking 26-23 first-round playoff loss to DePauw, marking an earlier exit than the Warhawks have experienced in recent years.
The Warhawks, who had advanced to the quarterfinals in previous seasons, found themselves in a back-and-forth battle that ultimately slipped away in the final moments. Trailing by a touchdown late in the game, UW-Whitewater mounted a drive to tie the contest.
Quarterback Justin Klinker connected with Blake Haggerty for a touchdown to bring the Warhawks within striking distance, but the comeback effort fell short as DePauw held on for the three-point victory.
