With the final week of the college football regular season unfolding on Saturday, several games across the country were met with snow—a sight fans always love.
In Ann Arbor, Michigan, the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes faced off against the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines. Hours later, about 350 miles south in Champaign, Illinois, another historic Big Ten rivalry game took an even wilder turn.
Northwestern traveled to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini, and conditions were extreme on Saturday night, with a reported eight inches of snow already—the most in Gies Memorial Stadium history, according to Fox Sports.
Snow continued to fall up to kickoff and was expected to persist, eventually shifting to a rain/snow mix during the game, creating even more challenges for the players.
