Woman fatally shot in Austin, another woman wounded

A woman was fatally shot in Austin earlier this month, according to Chicago police.

The woman, 21, was on the sidewalk with a 23-year-old woman in the 800 block of North Waller Avenue at 1:18 a.m. Nov. 22 when someone stepped out of a white sedan and fired shots, police said. The younger woman was shot in the head and side and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she later died.

The 23-year-old woman was shot in the ankle and taken to the same hospital in fair condition, police said.

No arrests had been made; an investigation is ongoing.
