DESTIN — A month into the books, the Louisiana State University men's basketball has one notable moniker: Unbeaten. Now the Tigers can add Emerald Coast Classic champions to their 7-0 start.
Pablo Tamba's 14 points led seven Tigers in double figures, and LSU shot 68% from the floor en route to a bench-emptying 96-63 win over DePaul (5-2) in Saturday's ECC title game at Raider Arena. By night's end, the overwhelmingly purple-and-gold-clad crowd was chanting "L-S-U. L-S-U."
Tamba was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 6-for-6 from the foul line to pair with a team-best seven boards. Max Mackinnon, Michael Nwoko and Jalen Reece each added 13 points each, Rob Miller and ECC MVP Dedan Thomas Jr. both added 12 points, and Rashad King's late alley-oop gave him 11 points.
