PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Penn State earned a wacky shootout win at Rutgers Saturday night to earn bowl eligibility in this roller coaster of a 2025 season, and it did so the way things have looked for so long in Happy Valley.

Midway through the first quarter, Kaytron Allen broke free for a 55-yard gain — his first of three 40-plus-yard scampers on the day. Just three plays later, Nick Singleton busted through a gaping hole in the left side of the offensive line for a touchdown that gave Penn State at the time a 14-7 lead.

It was the 44th rushing touchdown in his decorated Nittany Lions career and 54th all-purpose touchdown, breaking records held by Saquon Barkley since 2017 .
