Deryk Farmer hit tight end Alex Fiannaca on a 24-yard crossing pattern with 3 minutes, 33 seconds remaining to break a 22-22 tie, and Cascade Christian completed its third perfect season in the past four years by dethroning Burns 35-28 in the Class 3A football state championship game Saturday at Summit High School in Bend.

Bryson Walker added a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:25 left after the Challengers forced a turnover on downs to capture the sixth championship in program history — all since 2006.

Cascade Christian (13-0) won state titles in 2022 and 2023 with back-to-back undefeated seasons before falling to Banks in last year’s quarterfinals.

That opened the door for Burns (11-2) to win the 2024 championship, and the Hilanders fought tooth-and-nail to defend their crown.
