AUBURN, Ala. ( WSFA ) - No. 10 Alabama (10-2, 7-1) held off their in-state rival - and the last thing standing between them and a shot at the SEC title - inside Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday night.

The Tide entered the game at No. 10 in the college football playoff rankings, needing to defeat the Tigers in order to advance to the SEC Championship game.

With the win, Alabama’s hopes of earning a spot in the playoffs are still very much alive.

A fourth-quarter gambit by Kalen DeBoer paid off after a crucial 66-yard pass by Ashton Daniels helped tie the game 20-all with 11:43 on the clock.

Needing to convert or score on fourth and 2, DeBoer forewent a field goal, and Ty Simpson threw a risky 6-yard pass to Isaiah Horton in the endzone, giving Alabama the go-ahead score of 27-20.
