HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s football season ended on Saturday in a 24-19 loss to Georgia Southern.

The Thundering Herd finishes one game shy of bowl eligibility at 5-7. Georgia Southern, meanwhile, will await a bid at 6-6. Seventeen seniors participated in Marshall's senior day.

“I thought the kids fought really hard. We dug ourselves into a hole in the first half that we couldn’t get out of,” Marshall coach Tony Gibson said. “We had some opportunities to make plays, and we didn’t.”

Marshall starting quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson finished with 136 passing yards and a tipped interception in a 9-for-16 day.
