There's no pleasant way to perish, but suffocating on an enormous doughnut is certainly not the demise you'd likely select.

In the realm of competitive eating, choking presents a genuine danger to contestants, so severe that it resulted in the fatalities of two separate speed eaters within the same week.

Travis Malouf perished in Denver whilst attempting to devour a 250g glazed doughnut in under 80 seconds at an American bakery chain called Voodoo.

Travis was tackling a challenge to consume the massive doughnut in the shortest time possible, but the pastry became lodged in his oesophagus, ultimately causing his death
