There's no pleasant way to pass away, but choking on an enormous doughnut certainly wouldn't be most people's choice. In the competitive eating world, choking represents a genuine danger to competitors - so serious that it claimed the lives of two separate speed eaters within the same week. ‌

Travis Malouf died in Denver whilst trying to consume a 250g glazed doughnut in less than 80 seconds at Voodoo, an American pastry chain. ‌

Travis was taking part in a challenge to devour the oversized doughnut as quickly as possible, but the pastry became lodged in his throat, eventually causing his death by asphyxiation. ‌
