Two people were taken to hospital after a crash in a County Durham village.

The crash happened on Broadmeadows in Bowburn, at 7.05pm yesterday (November 29)

Comments on social media suggested that the road had been blocked, though these reports are unconfirmed.

The North East Ambulance Service sent two ambulance crews to the scene and took two people to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment.

A spokesperson for the service said: "We received a call at 7.05pm on Saturday, November 29, to reports of a road traffic incident on Broadmeadows in Bowburn, County Durham.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews to the scene and transported two patients to the University Hospital of North Durham (UHND) for further treatment.”
