A significant rescue operation is currently in progress following an incident in which a passenger fell from a luxury yacht in the English Channel, close to Brighton. The alarm was raised at 10.19am this morning when HM Coastguard received reports of a person overboard from a vessel near Newhaven. In response, RNLI lifeboats from Shoreham and Newhaven have been deployed to conduct a search. Additionally, an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, a fixed-wing aircraft, and two nearby vessels are assisting in the operation. The individual who fell is believed to have been on a catamaran near the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. A woman who was on board the boat raised the alarm after the incident occurred. As the search continues, the catamaran is being towed back to shore. Coastguard teams and lifeboats are actively searching the area for the missing man, with efforts ongoing to locate him as quickly as possible.
