Auburn is hiring South Florida coach Alex Golesh to be the Tigers' next head coach. Golesh is 23-15 in three seasons with the Bulls, with three bowl bids.

The regular season has come to an end in college football, and some major dominoes are starting to fall in the coaching carousel.

While we still await a final decision from Lane Kiffin when it comes to the LSU Tigers or Ole Miss Rebels jobs, other top positions are starting to fill up. Sunday morning brought news that the Auburn Tigers are expected to hire former USF Bulls coach Alex Golesh as the next head coach for the War Eagle.

Golesh has been at South Florida for three years, going 23-15 during that time with the Bulls. Before his head coaching career started, he was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Volunteers.

The fact that Golesh moved on from USC does not come as a surprise, as his name was out there as one of the top candidates in the carousel, and he was reportedly open with decision-makers at USF about the potential of him moving on. Earlier this week, Rob Higgins, USF's CEO of Athletics, took to social media to update their fans about the situation.

"Since Saturday’s game, Coach Golesh has been presented with outside opportunities that he has been transparent about with us," Higgins said. "We are respectful and supportive of Coach and his family in their decision-making process. We’ll remain in constant communication."

Now, after the departure of Hugh Freeze at Auburn, Golesh will take over and work to get the Tigers back into conference championship contention in the SEC. The first step will be working to retain the top players on the roster, like WR Cam Coleman and QB Deuce Knight, for starters.
