WASHINGTON — A man who died after a Metrobus driver ran over him in Northeast D.C. had also been hit by a pickup truck driver who fled from the scene, the Metropolitan Police Department revealed on Sunday as they identified the victim.
On Wednesday, police believe 29-year-old Jal Choul Pinuieny had fallen into the road on the 4200 block of Minnesota Avenue Northeast, near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station, before a Metrobus driver ran him over.
The driver stayed at the scene and tried to direct traffic around the victim but was unable to stop the victim from getting hit by another driver. This time, a pickup truck driver hit the man as he lay on the road. MPD said the pickup driver "did not yield and struck the pedestrian."
The driver then fled from the scene, according to police.
