At 1:14 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory in effect until Monday at 1 a.m. for Herkimer County.
"Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Periods of snow will develop later this morning and continue through the day. Snowfall rates may be close to one inch per hour at times this morning into the early afternoon hours."
"Travel could be hazardous due to snow covered roadways and reduced visibility," adds the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling."
