Michigan football fell in the Associated Press Top 25 poll this week , but not as far as you might think.

The Wolverines dropped three spots, to No. 18, following a 27-9 loss to No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday. The defeat knocked Sherrone Moore’s team out of the College Football Playoff hunt at 9-3.

Ohio State claimed the No. 1 spot again, with 61 of the 66 first-place votes, while Indiana checked in at No. 2. Both Big Ten teams finished the regular season a perfect 12-0 and will meet for the Big Ten championship Saturday night in Indianapolis.

MLive’s Aaron McMann, one of 66 media members with a vote, dropped Michigan to 20th on his ballot.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M’s loss to Texas dropped it four spots to No. 7, allowing Georgia and Oregon each to move up one spot, to No. 3 and No. 4 respe
