An 82-year-old woman was injured after her vehicle was struck by a freight train in South Brunswick on Wednesday, Nov. 26, authorities said.
At 3:05 p.m., a freight train struck a vehicle on Route 535 near Stults Road, South Brunswick police said. The driver said she saw the flashing train lights on Route 535 and stopped, police said.
The driver believed she stopped before the train tracks, but she was actually on the tracks, police said.
The Conrail freight train struck the vehicle and pushed it a quarter mile down the tracks, police said.
The driver sustained a minor leg injury and was transported to an area hospital, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
