EUGENE, Ore. – As online orders continue to rise, package theft is becoming an increasing concern for many. According to the U.S. Postal Service, about one in four people fell victim to package theft in 2024 alone.

Security experts, like Dave Selinger, CEO of Deep Sentinel, an AI-powered security company, identifies porch pirates as opportunistic criminals and shares ways to safeguard deliveries.

“Making sure they have lights on out in the front of their home, making sure they have visibility to their porch from the street," Selinger said. "That's what police call natural surveillance. So your neighbors can be providing surveillance for you. Then there's deterrent things like visible camera, AI and monitor cameras, if you can afford that."
