With Lane Kiffin announcing that he's accepted the LSU head coaching job, Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding is reportedly in line to be the Rebels' next head coach.

Golding will take over as Ole Miss' head coach on a permanent basis according to Peter Narkos on On3. Kiffin's statement on Sunday confirmed that he won't coach Ole Miss during this season's College Football Playoff, as Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter denied his request to stay for the remainder of the 2025 season.

There won't be a interim tag attached to Golding according to Narkos, as he'll not only coach Ole Miss for the remainder of the 2025 season but has been hired as the permanent coach.
