Strictly Come Dancing fans believe Alex Kingston's exit from the show had nothing to do with her dance performance and all to do with her health.

The Doctor Who and ER actress ended up in the dance off against EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, and was chosen to go home by the judges, although not unanimously.

Shirley Ballas, who had the casting vote tonight, had to decided the fate of the two celebrities after Anton du Beke chose to save Alex for the quarter finals next week.

She ultimately chose to save Balvinder, saying she thought she and partner Julian Caillon 'upped their game a bit more'.

But fans took to X to say they thought Alex had done better in the dance off and suggested there was an ulterior motive for her leaving the BBC competition.
