All that was missing was the Benny Hill theme music.
Cedar Grove and Glassboro created 26 seconds of mayhem in the NJSIAA/Xfinity Group 1 championship on Sunday at Rutgers.
An interception, a punishing hit, a fumble, and a scramble for the loose ball. It’s the craziest touchdown you will ever see in a high school football game, let alone a state final.
Glassboro’s Xavier Sabb picked off a pass near the end zone in the third quarter, broke a tackle and took off. Cedar Grove’s Xavier Andujar came across the field and delivered a big hit, knocking the ball to the turf.
The ball bounced around and squirted loose until Cedar Grove’s Michael Cantarelli recovered it for a touchdown.
