In one Centre County town, the Christmas season means more than just gifts and visits to Santa — it means staring up at a giant, 37-foot cutout of the big man himself, affectionately known as “ The Tallest Santa in Pennsylvania .”
In Philipsburg, the Santa Claus cutout up has been a fixture since 1959.
But last year’s original display was destroyed by high winds, WJAC reported . Thankfully, the Philipsburg Elks Lodge Santa Committee rebuilt the statue, and committee chairman John Herrington told WJAC it is “bigger and stronger than ever.”
Herrington said it took around two months to construct and paint the display.
Santa is now in place at Cold Stream Dam and Recreation Park in Philipsburg along Route 322, the Centre Daily Times reported.
The original statue was made by Bill Ada
