There are a lot of romance novels set at Christmas. Fewer have a man as narrator, and fewer still are centered around professional wrestling. It comes down to “Holiday Headlock,” a wholesome Northeastern Ohio-set book by Terry Armstrong of Warren.

The hero is Aaron McClellan, who uses the ring name Fabulous Freddy Foxx. He has expanded his wrestling career into an interview show and lucrative merchandising, but he anticipates an unattractive new contract offer from the league’s chief executive officer. When Aaron receives a call from his sister telling him that their mother has had a health setback, he is quick to schedule a trip to his hometown, the fictional Deer Creek Falls.
