The word the Maple Leafs are throwing around is “confidence.”
They’ve lacked it for most of the season, but seem to have found some lately.
It was the first word, and among the last, from coach Craig Berube to the media after Saturday night’s convincing 7-2 win over the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
“We talk about our confidence level,” said Berube. “Confidence, they’re going to feel good about themselves. That’s good. We’ve got to build off it.”
It’s too early to say the Leafs have turned the corner. But with two wins in three games heading into Tuesday night’s road date with the Florida Panthers, they have at least kept a playoff spot within reach.
