Freshman Uche Izoje scored 20 points and added nine rebounds and seven blocks to lead the Syracuse women’s basketball team over Howard University 78-62 Sunday at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Syracuse improves to 6-1, while Howard is 6-2.

Izoje was one of four Orange players who scored in double figures. Laila Phelia had 14 points, Journey Tompson 12 and Shy Hawkins 10. Angeliza Velez had nine assists for SU.
Howard was led by Zennia Thomas’s 24 points.
A 9-0 run late in the first quarter put Syracuse up 17-9, and the Orange led the rest of the way.
Syracuse hosts Auburn at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the JMA Dome as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
