A man is in custody after an hourslong standoff with Osceola County sheriff’s deputies that began early Sunday and kept neighbors awake overnight.
The sheriff's office says Dalton Sears is also accused of spraying seven Osceola County deputies with chemical gas and is now facing additional felony charges.
Deputies said they were responding to a criminal mischief complaint early Sunday on Biscayne Road when they heard what sounded like gunfire around 1 a.m. A sheriff’s office helicopter later spotted a man in the woods attempting to hide.
Cpt. Kim Montes said Sears eventually crawled underneath a mobile home and refused to come out. Deputies said they found multiple firearms, handguns, marijuana and cocaine at the scene.
