A carjacking in Calgary’s southeast on Sunday evening ended with a collision involving a fire truck and a police takedown of the suspect.
At around 5:30 p.m., Calgary police say a man was dropping off his grandchild in the community of Walden when a masked offender suddenly jumped into his vehicle.
Both the man and the child managed to exit safely before the suspect sped away. No injuries were reported.
Less than ten minutes later, witnesses saw the stolen vehicle crash into a power pole near Shawville Road SE and Shawville Boulevard SE.
Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded and found the suspect still behind the wheel.
