CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- Small Business Saturday looked a little different this year after a snowstorm pushed through the Cedar Valley, cutting the annual shopping day short. Many residents chose to stay home due to roads quickly becoming slick and visibility dropping, leaving local businesses hoping for a rebound once the storm cleared.
By Sunday, conditions had improved, and more people were back out in Cedar Falls. But instead of heading straight for retail shops, many were seen filling tables at local restaurants- choosing warm meals and a break from the cold.
George's Local manager Evan Grimes says the shift in traffic isn’t a concern. He believes the holiday season still brings plenty of opportunity for strong sales and expects business to stay steady as December approaches.
