LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Workers at Third Street Coffee and Stuff are organizing to form a union, saying they want better working conditions and more input in workplace decisions.
Aubrey Smith, who is leading the unionization effort, said employees feel their perspectives are not being utilized effectively by ownership.
“We feel as if though we have a valuable perspective from months - and in some cases - years being on the floor at third street knowing the ins and outs,” Smith said.
Smith said workers want the ability to address concerns and help influence decisions but currently lack that opportunity.
“We feel as if though are perspectives and our ideas and our thoughts have not been utilized to their best ability,” he said.
