HARRISBURG, Pa. – A push continues within the Pennsylvania General Assembly for schools to install silent panic alarms to hasten the collective response to critical emergencies such as a mass shooting, and potentially save more lives.

The effort centers on Alyssa’s Law, the inspiration for silent alarm legislation adopted in 10 states and pending in 17 more, plus a proposal in Congress. It’s pursued by the mother of Alyssa Alhadeff, one of 17 people killed by a mass shooter in 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. ×
