PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An 80-year-old woman is speaking out after her car was stolen while volunteering at the nonprofit organization Union Gospel Mission in Portland on Thanksgiving.
The car’s owner, Cheryl, told NewsNation affiliate KOIN 6 News that she usually leaves her purse in her car when she comes to volunteer since she didn’t feel safe walking down the street carrying it.
She’d parked and locked her 1999 Honda Accord in her usual spot, just a few blocks from the mission.
But when she came back from her volunteer shift, her car was gone. Inside was Thanksgiving food for her family and her purse left in the trunk.
