The BBC Scotland headquarters was evacuated this morning after a fire broke out in the building.

The fire broke out in a plant room on the fifth floor of the Pacific Quay building in Glasgow at around 6.30am. All staff were forced to leave the building as an alarm sounded, the Daily Record reports.

The BBC Radio Scotland Breakfast show was taken off air and breakfast television bulletins were suspended while staff were evacuated from the building. The Breakfast show switched to pre-recorded music and then went on to feature Radio 5 Live in its place.

The show, presented by Martin Geissler and Laura Maciver, came back on air shortly after 8.30am. Speaking about the fire they told listeners: "Our apologies... it's been quite the morning.
